2015
A singular talent, his quietly confident style delivers quality storytelling in “everyman” songs that connect and resonate. Unusual teamwork features in this classy release with the introduction of edgy drums, percussion and vocals from the acclaimed Fred Claridge, nurturing a rich, powerful sound and a rare pairing on the roots scene. Lyrically evocative , sometimes moody and melancholic, Holland’s unadorned music has a flip side of songs of upbeat, wry humour but always acutely observed - songs of people and places, strangers and kin, human frailties and foibles– sensitive sonic snapshots producing perfect visual imagery, by turns unsettling and reassuring. Produced by Mark Hutchinson at Rooksmere Records, Fabian says of the album: “From the outset I knew I didn't want this to be just a continuation of the first album. I wanted to introduce new instruments, mainly drums and percussion, but the challenge was to do so without compromising in any way the identifiable sound captured on the debut. “Joining forces with Fred Claridge has been great because he has a very subtle style to his drumming which is complementary to the songs and guitar playing.”

“this album is About as laid-back as you can get without losing consciousness but still carries vocal barb which makes you sit up and take notice like a noise in the night when you are alone in the house.”
— FOLKALL
“Fabian’s liquid licks show his mastery of the guitar, with some playing that will likely leave you slack jawed, including the odd nod towards some illustrious inspirations.”
